Vampires at work?

Thankfully the cupboards at my office are stashed with compulsion protection Verveine.

Looks like Stephen and Damon Salvatore are going to have to rely solely on their insanely good looks to get me to do well...uh, whatever they want.  ;)

Seriously though I thought Vampire Diaries made this stuff up... guess not.

Jimmy Fallon Doing Lines... all the time.

I thought I was going to quit the blog, but then Curtis sent me this and I felt compelled to share Jimmy Fallon with the masses, not that he needs my help. :S lol

Thanks Curtis, stole this from your facebook, I may not be into this whole Winning trend, but I'm always on Jimmy Fallon :)

V-day is so yesterday...

Well it is for me...Literally!  Curtis came over with my purdy flowers and chocolate last night because he just couldn't wait to see the smile on my face and sparkle in my eye.... and also because he wasn't sure how long the roses would survive in his refrigerator for! Womp womppp!! lol

Anyways I love my eco-organic roses he got me. I'm not sure if this is the exact place they're from but iI'd like to think it's identical to this farm in Ecuador:

Here's a little something for the anti-valentines day peeps.  Trust me, coming from someone who is in a relationship and gets her fare share of romance year round, I'll never understand the concept of giving out valentines and chocolate on just one speific day of the year that is the feast day of an unknown martyr. It's creepy. Besides, people should just always be bringing me chocolate...

So valentine's day, you can just:

Can somebody just give this man a hug please...

My firend Ashley sends me these from time to time and omg, are they ever hilarious to read. They're usually always a little cringe-worthy but normal enough... well as normal as posting a missed connection to a total stranger on the internet can be.  This one I'm posting below is in a league of it's own however.

It starts off funny but quickly becomes a little scary and gut wrenching desperate. I can only wonder how long this has been going on for...

Missed Connections via Kijiji
Carol, with the witty shirt

I was that shy guy on the 94 Eastbound this morning. You had a shirt on that said "the trouble with reality is there is no background music", so I began humming. When you asked me why I was humming I said "no reason" and stopped.

I was humming background music for you.

I would like to "hum" for you some more.

Maybe, if that would be okay with you.
Or coffee.

Please.
I am so very lonely, you are the only human contact I have had in months.

Can I stand next to you tomorrow and hum some more?

(Also, I know your name because of the ID badge you had on. Your hair is very pretty when it is short.)

Look what I did...

You're welcome Internet

Lorraine --
It’s another step towards an open and competitive internet in Canada, and it's thanks to you.
Late last night, news broke that Tony Clement will ask the Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to reverse their decision on usage-based internet billing – a decision that allows internet service providers to impose download limits and new fees.
Our work is not yet done. We need to keep up the pressure until the CRTC’s decision is reversed once and for all.
Canadian families and businesses need open, affordable, unlimited internet access. The future of our economy depends on it. The Conservative government should have known that from the start.
When messages like yours reached us this past weekend – on Twitter and Facebook, by email, phone and fax – my Liberal colleagues and I knew what we had to do.
On Tuesday morning, we sided with you against the CRTC’s decision. By the end of the day, Liberal MPs on the Industry Committee had already begun an investigation. Then, yesterday, we kept the pressure on the Conservative government during Question Period in the House of Commons. At tonight’s meeting of the Industry Committee, Liberal MPs will tell CRTC Chair Konrad von Finckenstein to reverse course.
This isn't the first time that you’ve stared down the Conservatives over an open internet — and that's why tens of thousands of you visited our action page athttp://www.liberal.ca/ubb/, to join our digital policy email list and help carry the fight into Parliament.
This is your movement. You rallied on Twitter. You wrote emails and called Tony Clement’s office. You made the difference.
We all know that there are wider issues at stake here. After five years of Stephen Harper, Canada still has no digital plan. The Conservatives’ proposed copyright bill contains unfair digital lock provisions. Canadians are less connected and face higher internet costs than citizens of other OECD countries. And don’t even get me started on the long-form census.
Liberals have been engaged on these issues. In 2009, we worked with theOpenmedia.ca / Save Our Net Coalition on Net Neutrality, a position that we support wholeheartedly. Last fall, we announced our Open Government Initiative, which will make government data accessible to all Canadians.
At the heart of our digital policy is a core Liberal value: we must make Canada more competitive and more innovative. That means expanding high-speed internet access to every region of the country, fair and equitable wholesale access, and transparent pricing.
We must build a digital strategy for Canada that embraces the energy, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovative creativity of consumers, businesses and digital influencers like you.
We'll keep the pressure on the Conservatives in Parliament to make sure they follow through and reverse the CRTC’s decision on usage-based billing. This victory is just a taste of what we can accomplish, if we continue this fight together.
I hope you’ll join the Liberal Party's digital policy email list athttp://www.liberal.ca/ubb/. Let’s build a more open, more competitive future for Canada.
Thank you for being engaged.

Stop The Meter On Your Internet Use

http://openmedia.ca/meter

I'm 2 for 2

On the day that Jonathan Knight re-confirms his sexual orientation, I am comfronted with my inexplicable attraction to the least masculine member of every boy band I've ever liked.

NKOTB for example had me swooning for Jonathan knight for years with his shyness and seeming senstivity. His lack of solo's had me angry with the rest of the guys for making him the underdog of the group and therefor needed my attraction to stay relevant. (In my defense, if I would have known what gay meant at that age I think Jordan might have fit my understanding of the word...)

Then years later when I thought I was safe from the appeal of boy bands, enters NSYNC and BSB.  I fought the feelings for a long time, knowing that they were just a well oiled machine that a record company had engineered to destroy real music...

Alas, their power was too strong and Lance Bass had my heart at "Bye Bye Bye"of their second album No Strings Attached. And then broke my heart with his cameo on seveth heaven amking out with Beverley Mitchell...

Once I accepted my failure to boycott formulaic Pop music, I was brainwashed and in love.  You see, another handsome, shy, underdog needed my help and guidance... And there were the others, Christina needed protecting from Britney, Britney needed protection from herself. I was there for all of them...

In any case, I'm back to normal, still a top 40 kind of girl with a dash of Swedish ballads and music I like to refer to as "sing along-able". But I swear if Kevin from BSB or Brandom Flowers (not really boy band) comes out one day I'm having my head examined...

Happy Meatless Monday Everyone!

Even if you don't like Tofu or soy based products like me, use this day of the week as an excuse to eat your favorite meatless comfort food like Mac and Cheese, Pizza sans-pepperoni, or perogies!!

Don't forget though, you can still get creative and make some healthier choices than the carbomadic ones I've just mentioned...  There are countless salad, soup and omelette or fritatta combinations.

EDRADOUR- Sassicaia Cask Finish

So I was going to write a post about this Scotch I got Curtie for Christmas but realized all I really have to say is Yummmmm.

I love me some scotch and I can taste some different notes here and there, but writing about it is beyond my appreciation level.

So thanks to the google machine, I found someone who did write about it and all I have to say is "Yah, what he just he said"

How many douchers does it take...

To change the wiper blades of a shitty 2009 Dodge Caliber? Or should I say how long does it take for 2 douchers to replace them?! lol

Today was fun, well actually the real fun began last night when I went for a vino run and my wipers broke and the rubber was left dangling on my windshield like two black spaghetti noodles. Then there was more fun to be had at the gas station while me and a 19 year old girl tried to see what size blades I needed...

But the most fun was when I sat freezing in my car reading through my owners manual, clearly going to the wiper sections that the Index told me to go to and could not find anything on what sizes to get. Had to call Curtis and have him use his google machine to find it and still NOTHING!  Its only the most common effin car out there nowadays (not something I'm happy about trust me) but there's no info anywhere.  Anyways I drove home extremely slow and did a googley search of my own and I too found nada.

So today we went to good ol Canadian tire and they have this thingy that you enter your car year and model and it tells you what sizes to get...genius.  Naturally my car would require two different size wipers otherwise it would just be too easy...

After trying to put the dang things together and then realizing we don't need to use all the parts they give you, and after searching the net and watching several youtube how-to video's we did it!!

And what do you know, its the easiest thing you will ever have to fix on your car.

Hi five team work!!

Thanks again bear :)
xoxo

Bye Bye Ghetto Fab Bermuda Ave

Hey y'all,
got some excitin' news for ya. Well it's not exciting for you, but it is for me! Curtis and I are moving to our new place in the next couple of months and I'm crazy estatic!!  I won't have to deal with Camo truck John, Granny Swinger, and the Diva formally known as Richard anymore!  No more slamming doors, or 4am fire alarm systems waking me up.

I've been obssessed with these Richcraft Loft-Terrace Homes for ages and kept waiting for them to build new ones, which they were supposed to in the new Eastboro village or somewhere else out in Orleans but they never did. Anyways one came up to rent the other day and we just snatched it up.  We weren't looking to move until May, and it kinda sucks having to do it all before the spring and so soon, but this place is totally worth it.

Other than how pretty it is, here's my list of it's awesomeness:
  • It's so close to a Timmies that we can see it from our front door.
  • Awesome highway access...nuff said
  • 4 Bus routes so I don't have to Park & Hide at Blair anymore
  • Hung Fatt is next door to us, never had it, but hello... it's called Hung Fat!
  • Walking distance to a Dairy Queen, if I walk there, then its ok right?
  • Our butcher is down the street... Tournedos Steak Thursdays!
  • Mystery construction of 2 new stores next door, bc it's Ottawa you know one is a Shoppers!
  • We're close to Orleans, but still not really in Orleans
  • If we ever feel like going sliding, we're right next to Greens Creek hill without the stink
  • If they ever bring the Gloucester Fair back to Gloucester, well we could walk to it.
Okay I'm reaching now with hypotheticals, but still I think you get the jyst of what I'm saying... it's all "pretty cool". The only non awesome thing I can think of is that they've recently moved a new McDonalds right next to the Timmies. Which sucks because, well, because it's McDonalds and they tend to spread their stink for miles... But if I ever need to picket a McDicks, It will be pretty handy...

COLLAPSE

Asside from false attempts to go to the gym and apartment hunting with Curtis we stayed in Saturday night and watched this documentary that was suggested by Roger Ebert. Actually he has a whole list of them and we're going to try and watch them all, I don't know why we'd do this exactly but we have total faith in everything Ebert says at this point so why the hell not?

Anyways it was really good except I will stipulate that if you have recently quit smoking, wait awhile before watching, I didn't count, but dude must have smoked a good 15 cigs while on camera.  While some things that are said in the doc aren't backed with any solid proof, you can't deny that what Michael Ruppert is saying makes sense and deserves attention.

All I can say is that we were both happy SNL came on right after we were finished watching because we def needed a little comedic relief...

This sums it up nicely:

Sad Cupcake Face :(

Hey, some of you (about 3 in total) might be wondering where I've been of late and what's the what on why I'm not posting... here's the truth of the matter. I'm just lame.  Yep, got a case of the post holiday blahs & credit card bill anxiety!

Other contributing factors but not really good excuses are:
  • New job is very busy. Didn't know I got a new job? Well now you do. It's still at the same place but a significant amount of levels higher, thus more work/ responsibility. Main advantage to this new job, a flex schedule... oh yah baby, I come and go as I please... well within the 37.5 hr work week  confines and between 8am-6pm, living large...
  • Been busy with the parents having just moved back from the Caymans. didn't know my parents moved back, well now you do.
  • Been kinda depresso since Curtis went home after the holidays to visit family back in Cape Breton.  Cheesy I know, but it's true, he's my main source of interesting information and he's also usually the photog when taking hilarious pics of Fin, so now you can see why the blog has been suffering.
  • A new firiend seems to turn 30 every few weeks and although the celebrations are fun, the innevitable fact is that in a couple of months its going to be... okay well in like 5 months to be exact but still, I'm def not ready. All my favorite shows are people in high school... actually in defense of Gossip Girl, they're fresh out of highschool, so that doesn't count.
  • And lastly, a Part B of the last bullet, I'm addicted to Pretty Little Liars.  A show that has kept me awake until the wee hours of the weekday mornings in the very same week that I started my new job. Can someone say stupid? I can. I've watched the first season twice now... can someone say double stupid? Yup. So I've been a zombie all week, but don't worry, not a real one, just a "people under the stairs" kind.
So there you have it folks, 5 very valid facts on why I don't have the stamina, energy or gumption (Sp?) to post nonesense. I have a feeling I'll be back to normal by tomorrow... or maybe Wednesday... but no promises.

Side note, although I haven't been posting, my swing kids and Angry Birds posts are still going strong. I could probably retire with just those two in the repertoire.

During my hiatus my friend Krista and I came up with a new word. Take care + tah tah= Tankerah... it's birth mostly stems from an accent, a disastrous double shot of tanqauray gin and a clumsy bartender.

So Tankarah y'all (take care)!

Happy Birthday Vero!!

Happy Birthday Vero!!

My bestie since the 3rd grade turns 30 today!
(Yes it's a double whammy with Curtis on the same day!)

To your left you'll notice a pretty cool symbol we had come up with when we were likely around the age of 11 or 12.  I can't remember if I have all the letters correct but the V and upside down V are for Vero, my LB, LS is for Lip Stick I think Vero was the stick and she was a skinny child and I never shut up. And the SS I'm not sure if those are right because it would have been a complete plagerism of my sister and her bestie for Sweet and Sour. (Do teens still do this? lol)  Anywho I think it's hilarious and obvsiouly after 20 years I still remember it so it must have had some kind of impact on me!

Just like with Melina, I have a gazillion inside jokes and stories I could reminisce about but I'll save it for the party on Friday, that way I can use my wicked awesome acting skills!

Hope you have a great day, and great weekend and hell, it's your month!!

Love you :)

Happy Birthday shmooopie!!

My boyfriennn turns old today y'all!! ;)

35 years old to be exact!

This handsome fella, also known as Bear, Poppop, Curtie-Pie and C-Mac is the known for his hilarity, fashion sense, and mad rapping skilz. (And I'm actually serious!)

Hope you're having a greart trip, eating lots of Breakfast Clubs, Garlic Fingers, Steak Burgers, Pizza subs and all those other deliciously weird things you guys eat up there!

I love him and miss him and can't wait to celebrate when he gets back!

Not a New Years Resolution...

While getting fit and actually going to the gym for which I already pay for are some of my resolutions, doing this kind of workout entitled INSANITY isn't and kinda triggers the ol' doucher alarm.

And yes, yes, I know it's the makers of P90X and your coworker got instant results... so then do the P90X, don't encourage lazy marketers by buying poorly re-packaged products like this:
